Your May Home Maintenance Checklist:

  • Examine Fences & Decks:

Even with regular maintenance, fences and decks, especially those made of wood, are prone to deterioration.

Check and evaluate the structural soundness of your decks and fences, including handrails, and address and loose components by repairing and replacing promptly.

  • Clear Your Property’s Swales:

Swales are shallow channels or ditches that capture and redirect rainwater runoff, reducing risk of flooding and erosion.

In your yard, you might see a concrete swale or it might be a grassy ditch. Ensure to clear debris from your yard’s swale and clear any other blockages.

  • Window Maintenance:

Do you find that your windows aren’t as easy to open or close as they once were? Follow these steps:

Vacuum and clean the track of the window. The dust and debris can be the culprit of the stickiness! You can also apply a silicone spray for window tracks that will keep them sliding with ease! You can also repair separated/cracked window trim easily with latex caulking.

  • Monthly duties:

Remember to do these every month:

    • Check the batteries in your smoke and CO2 Detectors
    • Replace or clean your furnace air filter
    • Clean your hood range filter
