We know you’re excited (and you should be!) to get settled in your new home, but here are a few things you should keep track of on your possession day:
Check all contractual items are addressed:
Check that all items are what you ordered such as lighting fixtures, faucets, appliances and other finishes. Mistakes in contractual items are not covered by New Home Warranty, so it is a good idea to make sure you’re getting what you purchased!
Check for touch-ups:
Briefly check the flooring for any dents, scratches or paint from the touch-ups.
Check for appliance damage:
Check appliances for any damage (dings, scratches, etc). It is easiest to make your builder aware of damage to your appliances right away to ensure corrective action is taken.
Run the water:
Make sure that there are no leaks by running faucets, filling bathtubs, and flushing toilets. You may wish to see if there are any dribbles in the bathtubs as you run water elsewhere in the house (a quick, common fix of the cartridge).
Check Exterior Siding:
Briefly check the exterior to ensure siding has not been damaged since the orientation (pictures are good if they’re building next door).
