Leadership, Direction and a Continued Commitment to the Homebuilding Industry

ANHWP Group is entering its next chapter with a clear focus: supporting Alberta’s Builder Members, strengthening the homeowner experience and continuing to evolve as a trusted industry partner.

Leadership matters most when it creates clarity, builds trust and keeps an organization focused on the people it serves. In this special Leadership Issue, we share more about our strategic direction, introduce the leaders responsible for guiding and delivering it, and recognize the contributions of those who have helped shape ANHWP’s success.

A Clear Direction, Built Around Our Members

A Message from Scott Hamilton, President & CEO, ANHWP Group of Companies

For more than 50 years, we have helped create confidence in new homeownership, backing more than 700,000 homes along the way. As Canada’s first new home warranty provider, we’ve helped shape and advance warranty protection and industry partnership across the country. It’s a success story we’re still writing—and our responsibility is to build an organization capable of thriving in the housing market of the future while remaining true to our roots.

Our purpose is heartfelt: Inspire joy by creating peace of mind. We bring that purpose to life by elevating the homeownership experience and reducing stress for those building, owning or renting a home. Our mission is to deliver industry-leading warranty, education, training and services while empowering homebuilders and construction professionals to be at their best.

Our direction is clear: to build on the strength of our warranty program while continuing to improve the expertise, services and experience we provide to Builder Members and homeowners. We’re also building on our reputation and platform to diversify our services and respond to evolving industry and customer needs. Dweller Home Services is one example of how we’re broadening our impact, creating new opportunities for growth and supporting homeowners throughout more of their homeownership journey.

ANHWP was built in Alberta by Alberta builders to create confidence in homeownership and the homebuilding industry. That foundation continues to shape how we work today. We understand that warranty is only one part of a much larger journey—and that our greatest value comes from being a knowledgeable, responsive partner that helps Members prevent issues, navigate complexity and deliver an exceptional experience to their customers.

Across the ANHWP Group of Companies, we bring together warranty and insurance expertise, technical and claims support, professional education, business insight and third-party inspection services. By connecting the expertise of ANHWP, the New Home Warranty Insurance (Canada) Corporation (NHWICC), Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) and Dweller, we can make it easier for Members to access the right support at the right time.

What does this mean for our Builder Members?
  • Stronger relationships • Dedicated teams who understand your business, listen to your needs and work alongside you.
  • Connected expertise • Practical guidance across warranty, claims, construction, education, inspections and the homeowner experience.
  • Continuous improvement • Thoughtful investment in our people, technology and services so we remain easy to work with and responsive to a changing industry.
  • Confidence that lasts • A stable, professional organization committed to supporting quality builders and protecting homeowners for the long term.

As we look ahead, our ambition is greater than protecting homes. We want to help create a better homeownership experience from the moment a home is built through all the years that follow. By continuing to innovate, broadening the ways we help and remaining focused on the people at the heart of our industry, we can build an organization that not only responds when things go wrong but also helps make things go right. That is the future we are excited to build together.

Our promise to our Builder Members: You build their dreams. We help you stand behind them.

Our Senior Leadership Team

Led by President & CEO Scott Hamilton, ANHWP’s Senior Leadership Team brings together expertise across finance and risk, sales and marketing, operations and claims, and people and culture. Together, they are responsible for delivering ANHWP’s strategy, supporting our employees and ensuring the organization continues to provide strong service and value to Builder Members and homeowners.

New Board Chair: Meet Paul Lanni

When Averton entered the Edmonton market over two decades ago, becoming a Builder Member of ANHWP was a natural decision for Paul Lanni (FCPA, FCA, ICD.D). ANHWP represented a community of Alberta’s leading builders—companies recognized for professionalism, quality and a commitment to standing behind their homes. For Averton, membership provided an important connection to Alberta’s homebuilding industry and aligned with the company’s established commitment to quality.

Today, Paul brings that same builder perspective to his role as Chair of ANHWP’s Board of Directors. As President & CEO of Averton, he leads a third-generation homebuilding and development company operating in Alberta and Ontario. Since taking on the company’s operations in 2004, Paul has built extensive experience across land development, homebuilding and community creation and is a trusted voice across our industry.

Paul also brings a decade of volunteer Board service to the industry through CHBA Edmonton, UDI Edmonton and BILD Edmonton Metro. That experience has reinforced the value of bringing different perspectives together, understanding the challenges facing builders and keeping decisions focused on the long-term health of the industry.

As ANHWP’s new Chair, Paul will help guide an organization he first joined because of the quality and reputation of its Members. His practical industry knowledge, Member perspective and collaborative approach will support the Board as it oversees ANHWP’s continued evolution and commitment to both builders and homeowners.

“As builders, we know that what we create is about far more than wood and concrete. We build the places people call home—where families grow, milestones are celebrated and memories are made. I’m proud to be part of an organization that understands this responsibility and stands alongside its Builder Members to support better building and a stronger homeownership experience. Our future will be built the same way our best homes are built: together, with care, confidence and a long-term view.” – Paul Lanni

A builders perspective: Paul’s connection to ANHWP began as a Builder Member seeking to stand alongside Alberta’s leading builders. Today, that firsthand Member experience is just one of the many valued perspectives he brings to his role as Chair.

Looking Ahead

The industry continues to navigate changing customer expectations, evolving technology, affordability pressures and increasingly complex construction and regulatory environments. Strong leadership will help ANHWP remain focused on what matters: listening to Members, applying its expertise, improving the customer experience and supporting better outcomes for builders and homeowners.

Leadership Transition: Thank You, Howard Tse

ANHWP extends its sincere thanks to Howard Tse for seven years of service on the Board of Directors, including the past two years as Chair.

Howard’s tenure spanned an important period in ANHWP’s history. Under his Board leadership, the organization celebrated its 50th anniversary, launched Dweller Home Services, established a renewed strategy focused on long-term sustainability and earned recognition for its workplace culture, by achieving Great Place To Work® certification two years in a row. These milestones reflect the collective work of the Board, leadership team and employees—and Howard’s steady governance helped guide the organization through that period of growth, innovation and change.

Throughout his service, Howard brought the perspective of an experienced Alberta builder and a clear commitment to the strength of the ANHWP Group. His leadership supported thoughtful decision-making, organizational resilience and a continued focus on the builders and homeowners we serve.

We’re grateful that Howard will continue to contribute as a Director and Past Chair, providing valuable continuity and insights, as Paul steps into the Chair’s role.

Strong Governance. Broad Perspective.

ANHWP’s Board brings together accomplished leaders from Alberta’s homebuilding sector and professionals with deep expertise in insurance, finance, investment, actuarial oversight, governance, executive recruitment and organizational leadership from Alberta-based companies and firms across Canada. This balance of industry knowledge and independent perspective supports strong governance, informed decision-making and the long-term sustainability of the Group of Companies.

Together, the Board provides oversight and guidance while ensuring ANHWP remains connected to the realities facing builders and homeowners. Its role is central to maintaining the integrity, stability and forward-looking leadership Builder Members expect from their warranty provider.
