Non-essential claims resume on June 15

As we adjust to the relaxation of Alberta Health Services guidelines around COVID-19 and move into phase two of Alberta’s relaunch strategy, our New Home Warranty Insurance (Canada) Corporation (NHWICC) Claims Assessment team will resume non-essential warranty claim inspections starting on Monday, June 15.

We’re aware that our Builder Members have a large volume of warranty work to catch up; however, we’re requesting they triage repairs related to a claim in priority of severity and timeline to ensure these are dealt with in accordance with regulatory and Member guidelines. We’re also requesting that Members keep open communication with our Claims staff to manage files efficiently and to ensure claims are assessed within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Treat the Claims Assessment Report as a priority file
  • Develop an action plan to address the issues;
  • Communicate and coordinate the action plan to the Insured or their Agent, NHWICC, necessary trades, and suppliers;
  • Coordinate corrective action with all parties, inform NHWICC of progress and notify NHWICC with documented confirmation when the required corrective action is complete.

Additional resources

We’re all faced with many challenges to deal with warranty backlogs, safe work practices, access and more. The Alberta New Home Warranty Program (ANHWP) believes that we can all move forward successfully, and in partnership, we’ll resolve these issues together.

We’ve developed some resources to help support you and your team with warranty service claims during this recovery period.
