Spooky season is here! Before diving into your Halloween decorating here are a few home maintenance tips for your October season.

  • Maintain / adjust humidifier:

With the weather change between summer and fall it’s important to adjust and maintain your central humidifier. Not enough humidity leads to dry air, which can cause dry skin or shrinking of hardwood, while too much humidity may result in condensation issues such as attic rain. We recommend cleaning out the humidifier filters and reducing to 20 to 30 percent in the fall and winter.

  • Feed your lawn:

When you think of October your mind probably doesn’t think of lawn care, but actually, the fall season is the perfect time to seed your lawn. After an eventful summer, seeding your lawn can be one of the best ways to repair damage and allow seeds to begin taking root in the soil and get a jump on spring growth. This is also the perfect time to start thinking about preparing your hose connections for winter.

  • Clean your hot water tank:

Living in a colder climate hot water is a crucial part of your home’s function, to maintain the efficiency of your hot water tank and to help prevent costly breaks or malfunctions we recommend flushing the tank annually. Flushing the tank annually can prevent common problems like odours, loss of pressure, and blocked pipes.
