Warm up this spring by tackling these maintenance items for your New Home!

  • Clean Your Fireplace:

After a long winter of warm nights by the fire, your fireplace has likely accumulated soot and debris that could become a safety hazard if ignored. The cleaning process varies depending on whether you have a wood-burning or gas fireplace, but regular upkeep is essential. We’ve prepared a video on YouTube about this!

Proper maintenance helps prevent buildup that could lead to fires or harmful gases when you light it again.

  • Check Your Humidifier:

In the dry winter months, having a humidifier way me nice to add some moisture back into the air.

During winter we advise around 20-25%

    In the summer between 35-40%

However, as water continuously evaporates, mineral deposits, dust, and other debris can build up inside the unit. Using anti-scale products can make cleaning easier and help ensure you’re breathing the freshest air possible.

  • Inspect Your Roof & Gutters:

Winter hail and winds may have pelted your roof and gutters. Checking your roof for small ‘bruises’ and damaged shingles will help protect your home from excess moisture. Dented gutters may not drain properly. Make sure to clear out any debris and ensure they allow water to flow down them.

Be careful getting up on the ladder though! Contact a professional if required.

  • Monthly duties:

Remember to do these every month:

    • Check the batteries in your smoke and CO2 Detectors
    • Replace or clean your furnace air filter
    • Clean your hood range filter
