Remembrance Day is a time to recognize the sacrifice that the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country during times of war, conflict and peace. The Alberta New Home Warranty Program Group of Companies acknowledges the dedication and sacrifice it takes to serve our country, and this year our staff held a food drive to support the Veterans Association Food Bank in Calgary, Alberta.

In 2018, following the closure of a dedicated veterans food bank, the loss of support was felt throughout the Veterans community. Marie Blackburn seized the opportunity and founded the Veterans Association Food Bank in order to fill the gap and aid veterans and their families. Their vision of “a community of Veterans helping Veterans, we will be the support base where together we create healthy and resilient futures” has helped them to provide assistance in the form of food, clothes, emergency funds, essential items & hygiene products, and a new sense of community to over 500 Veterans and their families.

With over 80% of their revenue coming from donations, the Veterans Association Food Bank is always looking for charitable donors, whether that be through money, food, personal care essentials or time spent volunteering.
