Marketing and Communications Specialist

The Alberta New Home Warranty Program Group of Companies (“the Program”), is Alberta’s most experienced, most trusted new home warranty provider. As Alberta’s leader in new home warranty products and services for over 45 years, we continue to raise the bar to meet the needs of new homeowners and our Builder Members.

We’re building our team and are looking for a Marketing and Communications Specialist to help us grow our builder education portfolio, the Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) – Canada’s premium provider of quality education for the residential construction industry.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for organizing and creating informative and engaging content and experiences to attract, convert and retain customers and to help build and support our brands, products, and services. You’ll work collaboratively within a team to get things done and have fun doing it. You’re a generalist and bring broad marketing and communications experience and know-how to deliver the right content, at the right time, to the right audience.

This role requires a self-starter and creative doer who loves storytelling and has a digital-first approach with experience developing content for digital consumption. You’re a focused and adaptive marketer with successful experience in managing digital demand-generation campaigns. You’ll bring hands-on experience working with various web, email, social and design programs, and platforms. Additionally, you’ll have proven project and time management skills, delivering results under tight deadlines while remaining flexible to shifting priorities.

Job duties

  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to scope, plan, and implement marketing and communication strategies and tactics to support business goals, reporting on progress and results.
  • Develop digital content, stories, blog posts, social posts, and emails to support lead generation, customer retention, and brand awareness strategies.
  • Develop and maintain content calendars and scheduling on digital platforms.
  • Support development and coordination of digital marketing campaigns in-house and with our established agencies.
  • Develop and maintain content using our website content management system, marketing automation, and social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain content calendars and scheduling on digital platforms.
  • Analyze and report on digital content performance to optimize activities.
  • Advise content contributors on processes, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain brand, web and writing style, email, and social media guidelines and best practices.
  • Conduct regular digital platform audits to improve content quality, searchability, accessibility, quality assurance, and performance.
  • Conduct keyword research to support search engine optimization and search engine marketing rankings.
  • Coordinate and support the development of photography, videography, graphic design, and print production.
  • Lead and support planning and execution customer-focused events and experiences, including webinars, tradeshows, presentations, and sponsorship initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree (Communications, Marketing, Digital Marketing or equivalent)
  • 3 – 5 years of related experience. Similar experience in higher education, construction or homebuilding (knowledge of audience) is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with contributors, designers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of inbound marketing methodology, including content marketing, email marketing, and social media marketing for lead capture, nurturing, retention and conversion.
  • Good understanding of web best practices, including information architecture, user experience and writing for the web.
  • Technical skill and experience using web content management systems, HTML and application of web components/styles.
  • Experience using social media management tools, email marketing, CRM and marketing automation tools.
  • Experience developing content calendars and managing corporate websites, email marketing and social media platforms.
  • Experience with concept ideation and developing content for multiple audiences and platforms, including storytelling, blogging and technical writing.
  • Strong editing skills, including content, spelling, grammar and working knowledge of CP style.
  • Strong project and time management skills, delivering results under tight deadlines while remaining flexible to shifting priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, visual and oral.
  • Experience using Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite, and cloud-based project management tools
