Financial Reporting & Accounting Manager

This position resides with The Alberta New Home Warranty Program (ANHWP) and works alongside The New Home Warranty Insurance (Canada) Corporation (NHWICC) and the Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta (PHBI).

Accountable for

ANHWP has an immediate vacancy for a Financial Reporting & Accounting Manager. The successful incumbent will report to the Vice President of Finance & Risk and will be responsible for overseeing the reporting of corporate management in relation to the Finance and Accounting department.


The primary responsibilities of the Warranty Specialist are:

  • Leading the corporate financial reporting process
  • Preparation of all financial statement schedules, including investment schedules
  • Preparation of journal entry (JE) for the financial statement process
  • Support implementation of changes in accounting standards
  • Understand the process of prepare Financial Statements
  • Verifying the accuracy and collaborating with the accounting team to ensure compliance with all financial regulations
  • Assist with year-end audit process, schedules, and support
  • Reporting on Actual vs Budget departmental budgets
  • Supervising junior financial accounting staff
  • Assist with preparing cashflows for all entities
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Supervise Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Capital asset Monthly Reporting
  • Responsible for leading two direct reports

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum experience: +5 years of experience in a management role leading financial reporting and accounting teams
  • Experience with IFRS, as well as GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Considered an asset: experience in the insurance and/or home building and not-for-profit industry
  • Soft skills: strong writing and communication skills, interpersonal relationship, active listening, attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational lines
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work design
  • Travel ability: less than 10%


  • Minimum education: Business degree and CPA designation
