Continuous Improvement Advisor

The Alberta New Home Warranty Program Group of Companies (“the Program”), is Alberta’s most experienced, most trusted new home warranty provider. As Alberta’s leader in new home warranty products and services for over 45 years, we continue to raise the bar to meet the needs of new homeowners and our Builder Members.

We’re building our team and are looking for a Continuous Improvement (CI) Advisor. Reporting to the Manager, Business Planning & Improvement, the CI Advisor is responsible for planning and executing corporate improvement projects, leading cross-functional teams, and using proven methodologies (continuous improvement, project management, change management) to achieve desired results.

Job Duties

  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to establish priorities and develop an overall process improvement roadmap and project portfolio
  • Lead priority improvement projects (claims, risk, enrolments)
  • Determine resource requirements and consult with the sponsor on the appropriate selection process (assign, recruit or outsource)
  • Establish and delivery mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting to stakeholders via a defined communications plan
  • Training, coaching and mentoring on continuous improvement and project management tools and methods through a combination of role modeling, advising, problem-solving and more targeted training and facilitation
  • Document existing state and future state processes, procedures, policies and cross-functional workflows as derived from project meetings and discussions
  • Work with internal departments to resolve conflicts to ensure deliverables are met on schedule and on budget
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver training and education on continuous improvement, project management, and change management
  • Support the digital transformation initiatives, including improvements to and implementation of systems
  • Promote the mission and values of the organization both internally and externally
  • Support the leadership team to drive a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus throughout the organization
  • Enable improved process performance metrics to learn, measure, and drive additional improvement initiatives, and support delivery of desired results.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct work experience leading continuous improvement projects
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement methods and tools (e.g; Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Proven training and experience in change management concepts and methods (e.g. Prosci)
  • Proven experience managing concurrent initiatives, spanning cross-functional teams and processes
  • Strong facilitation, prioritization, planning, and organizational skills to meet challenging deadlines
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare and present to a variety of audiences; well-developed consulting, consensus building and facilitation skills, and business analysis expertise
  • Demonstrated non-authoritarian leadership competency
  • Understanding and experience contributing to the development of high performing teams, including a grasp of how organizational structure and authority lines mix with cross-functional contributions and collaboration to support organizational success.
  • Strong analytical and project solving skills, with a flexible approach
  • Experience with and familiarity with databases and CRM systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff (technical, professional, and senior management)
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to create, edit and present improvement charters, continuous improvement project documents, materials and presentations
