Without question, it’s been a challenging year, and our communities need our support now more than ever. In providing new home warranty to more than 90,000 homes in Alberta, the Alberta New Home Warranty Program Group of Companies feels a close kinship with the communities in which we serve. In this spirit, and in lieu of holiday parties and gifting, this year we’ve donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary and Edmonton.
The Boys & Girls Clubs operate across Canada, offering community-based services for children and youth to develop the skills they need to succeed, through life-changing programs and relationships with peers and caring adults.
A powerful testimonial from the Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area on how financial support helps their patrons, like Sarah, a 13-year-old girl who attends BGCBIGS’s McCauley Club site:
“Sarah is typically a very shy and reserved young lady who often disengaged into the internet, so she didn’t have to have meaningful conversations with her peers and staff. She also didn’t seem very interested in activities. When asked questions, she often speaks so quietly that staff are not able to understand her responses. We knew Sarah had potential but didn’t know how to interact, so we asked her to join our Junior Leader Program. Since starting the program, Sarah has become more vocal with the younger children, encouraging them and being a positive role model herself. She helps others with their chores and makes it a point to engage with other shy girls in the club site. We are so proud of Sarah for coming out of her shell and seeing her self-confidence and self-esteem grow!”
